Bethany & Brad's Baby Shower

Bethany & Brad's Baby Shower

I am a super excited Aunty to be again and very privilaged to be asked to run the games at
Bethany & Brad's baby shower.  Brad is my baby brother :)

Bethany is due to give birth at the end of November 2015.

The baby's sex is a big surprise so everything need to be unisex.
This is the Invitation I came up with for their Baby Shower.

 Invitation

Games

I haven't been to a baby shower in years so was a little unsure where to start.  Luckily the internet is full of fabulous ideas.  I started by writting a plan for the afternoon and went from there.

As guests arrived for the baby shower Brad had drinks and food (BBQ) all sorted for lunch.
After lunch and a quick tidy up games began.

I introduced myself to all the guests and started by givng all guests a baby saftey pin and a plastic cup
with a plastic baby inside an icecube.

Bethany was given a gorgeous white sash to wear with 'Mummy to Be' on it.
I thought it was a bit strange to have Brad at the shower as other showers I had been to only had woman.
Brad is such a prankster and loves to dress up so I found the perfect costume for him to wear at the Baby Shower - An adult sized Diaper, Pin and Pacifier.  Lucky is is such a good sort, he proudly wore his Diaper all afternoon.

GAME 1

"My Waters Broke"
Everyone had a baby inside an icecube that they were given as they arrived for the baby shower.  The first
person to have their ice cube completely melted and a baby floating and to yell out "My Waters have Broke" wins a prize.  This game continued on during the afternoon while other games were being played.

GAME 2

"Don't Say Baby"
As each guest was welcomed they were given a baby safety pin to wear on their shirt.  Everyone was told that they can't say 'BABY' for the duration of the baby shower.  If anyone hears someone say BABY then they can take their pin.  Person at the end of the baby shower with the most pins wins.

GAME 3

'Celebrity Baby Game
Every guest was given a form and a pen.  They had to match the celebrity couple with their child.  The person with the most corret anwers got a prize.

GAME 4

"Food Tasting"
I brought from the local supermarket five different cans of baby food.
I took the labels off the baby food and added labels that were ABCD & E
Each guest used little sticks to taste test the baby food and write their answers on the forms.
Winner was the person with the most correct.

Flavours were
A - Apple & Peach
B - Vegetables with Chicken Noodes
C - Pumpkin & Sweetcorn
D - Custard with Banana
E - Vegetables, Lambs Fry and Bacon

GAME 5

"The Price is Right"
Each guest got a shopping list that I made with baby items brought from Countdown Supermarket.  They had to write the price of the baby item on the form.  The person who had the closest total wins.

GAME 6

"Baby Pictionary"
I divided the guests into two teams - Team Bethany & Team Brad.
They were given a white board each and had to draw Baby Related pictures and guests in their teams had to guess what the picture was.  Bethany's team won by two points winning the Giant Gold Baby Bottle.

GAME 7

"What's in the Bag"
I asked the guests questions about Bethany & Brad.  When the answer was correct Bethany & Brad got to choose a bag (10 bags labelled BABYSHOWER).
In each bag was a baby item starting with the letter on the bag.
Bethany & Brad had to guess what the baby item was.  They got to keep all the baby items.
B - Booster Sea (used as a portable Highchair)
A - Animal Activity Mat
B - Booties (Welsh & All Blacks Rugby Booties)
Y - Yellow Duckie Bath Thermometer
- Singlets & Baby on Board Sign
- Hair Brush & Comb Set
O- Onesie
- Wet Wipes & Baby Wraps
- Ear thermometer
R - Rattles

The little booties I got knitted.
With it being World Cup Rugby year every baby needs some Rugby Boot Booties.
Bethany is from Wales and Brad is from New Zealand (a pair in each colour for the baby)

"Guess how many Jelly Beans in the Baby Bottle"

Last Game was just for the kids at the Baby Shower.
I had a bottle of Jelly Beans and the kids all got to guess how many jellybeans are in the baby bottle.
Closest guess won the bottle of Jelly Beans

Prizes
I found little bottles of jellybeans and silver baby keyrings to give out as prizes for the games.

At the end of the baby shower everyone was given a little paper stroller that I put together, filled with sweets as a thank you for coming .

A Few Photos

Bethany & Brad's baby shower was a fun and enjoyable afternoon.  They were spoilt from family and friends and we all got to know one another a lot better.

Thank you Bethany & Brad for letting me be part of your special day and all the best for your new arrival xxx

Star Wars Party

22nd August 2015
Star Wars Party

Double Figures ... 10 years has gone so quickly.
Leroy is a huge Star Wars fan so we decided to do some Jedi Knight Training with his friends for the day.

Leroy invited some of his best friends over for the day.
We met at Laser Strike for a couple of fun games then home for food, drinks and more Jedi training.

Laser Strike

We all met up at Laser Strike for two games.  I was so amazed at how well they all got on and helped each other out.  After the first game everyone came out dripping wet so it was ice-blocks all round for everyone to cool them down before the next game.  After the games were finished we pilled into our cars and went home for food and drinks.

Food & Drinks

After looking on Pinterest and a few other birthday websites for some inspiration (since I didn't really know anything about Star Wars) I came up with so many ideas to make the birthday food fun for the kids.  The Birthday Darth Maul Cake was made by a lovely lady I know 'CleverCookie'.
Darth Maul was Leroy's favourite character in the movies.

Drinks - Vader-Ade and Yoda Soda

I had two sets of PARTY plates that I like to use.  Leroy asked me if I could make a Star Wars word out of the Letters.  After a bit of research we could only come up with AT-AT.  He thought this was great.

Games

After eating we went outside to do some more Jedi Training.
First game was "Free Han Solo from the Carbonite'.  Each boy had a frozen container ice with Han Solo buried deep in the containers.  Using Forks and Knives they had to free Han Solo.  When he was free they went on to complete an obstacle course in a game called "Don't drop the Storm Trooper".  (Egg and Spoon Race).
First to finish got a Star Wars prize.

Forks used to break free Han Solo

Willow was a bit luckier than the boys.. we sellotaped her egg onto the spoon :)

Second game was "Find Darth Vader in the Galaxy"
This was a game we had previously made, we re-painted and re-branded the board.
The object of the game is to throw Star Wars Angry Birds balls at the board to break the paper.
The cup you break is yours which is either filled with lollies or if you are very lucky has Darth Vader in it that rewards you with a Star Wars Prize.

Third Game we played was make a Light Saber.  I had pre-cut Pool Noodles down to size for each child and made a sample for my daughter who was a bit young to participate.  They all enjoyed cutting the silver duct tape to make a handle and decorating with black electrical tape to make the buttons etc on the handle.
After making the Light Sabers they all had a huge Star Wars Duel.  Great fun for a bunch of 10 year old boys.

Pre-cut Pool Noodles

Finished results.. well done boys :)

Fourth game was our homemade "Tie Fighter Pinata" filled with heaps of goodies for the kids.
This year since they were a bit older was blind folded them all  (using a blacked out Darth Vader Mask) so the game would last a bit longer.  So funny seeing them all hitting the pinata.
A little stress before the party.. oh no wheres the pinata stick.
Luckily my husband came to the rescue, cut up my mop and spray painted the handle to look like a Light Saber

Inside for the fifth game - Pin the Light Saber on Yoda.  I had found a picture on Google of Yoda, made the poster in photoshop for this game with light sabers with Jedi (Their Name) on the light saber.

Last game before taking some very tired boys home was a Star Wars Quiz.
Leroy was great with his knowledge and got all the questions correct.

Jedi Knight Certificates for everyone for fantastic training.

 Loot Bags

Time to take everyone home.
Each boy took home their Light Sabers, prizes, lollies and a loot box of Star Wars Goodies.

Prizes for the party.

Decorations

Home made party banner, Black and Silver Balloons and lots of Star Wars Toys

Leroy's Origami C3P0 he made out of an activity book.

What a wonderful birthday.  For a mum who knew nothing about Star Wars I feel I have a great understanding of it now.  I have seen the movies with Leroy and can't wait to see the next movie when it comes out at Christmas.
You are an amazing boy Leroy and growing up into a really awesome young man.
I love you heaps. Love Mum xx
