Super Hero Party

22 August 2010
Superhero Planning
For Leroy’s 5th birthday we had a dressup Superhero Party.
Leroy loved Superheroes so it was really easy to theme his birthday around.
We decorated the house with Red and Blue balloons, made a superhero banner for the kitchen window, brought Batman, Incredibles and Spiderman banners. We had Superhero themed serviettes, table cloth, cup, plates, and masks for everyone. We also found at a junk shop packets of 50 spiderman masks for $2 and blow up spiderman toys that we put up all over the conservatory to make a Spiderman hideout.
Grandad Gordon Made Leroy his own Amazing walking Spiderman Doll
We had so many different superheroes turn up, it was fantastic to see everyone enjoying themselves. Costumes - Spiderman, Batman, Flash, Supergirl, The Joker, Teenage Mutant Ninga Turtle (NMNT), Wonder Woman, Zoro, Superman, Super Ema and Heat Blast (Ben 10)
Games & Prizes
Pass the Parcel.
Each layer had a picture of a superhero on the layer and a small bag of Buzz Lightyear lollies. Final layer had a Spiderman Pencil Case and Pencils for the winner.
Superheroes on the layers were:
Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Wonderwoman, Supergirl, Iron Man, Ben 10, Aquaman, Astro Boy, Captain America, Flash, Green Lantern, The Hulk, Icema, Iron Man, The Incredibles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Wolverine, X-Man

Kryptonite Hunt
Treasures were wrapped in Green Paper (Kriptonite). Just before the hunt I had a helper hide the “kryptonite” rocks and announce a hunt for them. We gave the children disposable gloves to pick up the kryptonite (so they didn’t have to touch it with their hands and loose their superpowers). Each parcel contained a Super Lollypop, Spiderman Pencil, Batman stickers and Superhero Bubbles (we brought bulk plain ones and made our own Superhero wrappers)
*
Pin the Emblem on Batman
I brought off Ebay two Batman games for approx NZ$5.00.
The kids were blindfolded and had to stick the Batman Logo on Batman’s Belt.
We had a prize for closest older child and younger child. They received a drinking cup with The Phantom on them filled with lollies and done up in cellophane and ribbons.
*
Superhero Pinata
I made a piñata out of a balloon, flour and water. When the three layers were dry we decorated it with Superhero pictures. The kids love Pinata’s at our parties. Youngest to Oldest lined up and had a few hits each. Finally the piñata was cracked open and out came lots of party favours and lollies.

Freeze Superheroes!
Superhero music was played.. when the music stopped the children had to make their best Superhero pose.

Additional games you could play
Superheroes in slime.
Make the slime and hide plastic superheroes in it.
The children will have heaps of fun playing in the slime and finding the toys.
Easy Slime Recipe
Ingredients:
2 Cups Water, 1/2 Cup Cornstarch, Food Coloring,
Directions:
1. Bring water to a boil in a medium saucepan.
2. Add cornstarch, then food coloring while stirring constantly.
3. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
4. This makes a messy slime that goes from liquid to solid, and is great fun to play with.

Knock Down the Wall
Show your super strength. Knock through a wall made of empty boxes. Use small boxes covered with red paper with bricks drawn on them. This is a popular game played at a superhero parties. Keep stacking and knocking down the wall until the guests tire of it.
* Web Spinning
Give each guest a can of silly string and instruct them to shoot it at each other like spinning a spider web. Also instruct them to NOT shoot it in each other’s eyes. After it’s all over have a contest to see who can make the biggest ball out of silly string. It’s a nice way to have the guests help clean up the mess.

Chalk Drawings - Superheroes

Music that we played at the Party
This was a little harder as we couldn't buy a Superhero themed CD.
With hubby being a DJ we managed to put together a few tracks.
