Willow's 9th Sweets & Treats Party
Willow is now 9 years old
We had been cleaning out some boxes in the garage and found my old family gumball machine from the 1980s. Willow thought it would be great to have it at her next party.
We had been cleaning out some boxes in the garage and found my old family gumball machine from the 1980s. Willow thought it would be great to have it at her next party.
We decided to do a Sweets & Treats party.
This was really simple to pull off after some of the other parties we have done over the years.
Invitation
Willow's invitation this year was based on everything Sweet! Cupcakes, Icecream, Lollies & Candyfloss.
We designed the invitation and got it printed for Willow to give out to friends at school and softball.
Games
Pass the Parcel - Double the Treats!
This year we played Pass the Parcel. A favourite of Willows.
We made two identical parcels and had both circulating during the game. The only catch was if the music stopped the person opposite you must have the other parcel in their hands. If they didn't the layer on the parcel couldn't be opened and it would continue. It was harder than we thought, one side went a lot faster. The girls finally got the idea that they needed to watch the person opposite if they were to get a layer open and find treats.
Shyla-Lilly and Nikita opened the last layer and won Candy Floss Slime Sets, Scented Candy Pen and Lollypop shaped Pen.
Pin the Nose on Bubble-O-Bill.
I created a game for the girls to play. We based it on Willow's favourite ice-cream - Bubble-O-Bill.
The girls were blindfolded and had to put the sticker on his nose. Shyla-Lilly won and was given an Eraser Set that was shaped like Macaroons.

As a consultation prize, everyone was given Bubble-O-Bill icecreams.
Some of the girls had never had them before, but all were eaten and enjoyed.
Pinata
I brought from the Warehouse a Pinata shaped like a Donut.
Inside we put homemade keyrings shaped like Donuts and Icecream shaped Highlighters,
along with heaps of lollies.
I usually make my own Pinatas but this one was perfect when I spotted it at the shop.
The girls destroyed so quickly, it really needed reinforcing. I will know for next year.
Musical Chairs
Our only game was not pre organised but one of the girls said it was her favourite.
We found enough cushions to play outside. Jamal played music for us.
Atawhai was eventually the winner of this game. Lots of smiles and laughter.
Chocolate Game
One of my favorites is the Chocolate Game.
I found a pair of Donut glasses in the party shop.
Willow seemed to throw the most 6s on the dice, all her friends tried so hard to stop her from eating all the chocolate.
She finally started to feel sick and was handing out chocolate pieces as she cut them to her friends.
So good to see her sharing.
Decorations
I ordered from Aliexpress a large Balloon shaped like a number 9 with sprinkle patterns all over it.
I also found Lollie-shaped balloons and a large ice cream balloon.
I ordered a huge backdrop that we hung in the gazebo It had cupcakes, donuts, and sweets all over it.
Willow's Brothers helped me blow up all the balloons the night before, we were thankful for an electric pump.
I thought it would take ages to decorate but with lots of helping hands we got everything looking amazing just before the guests arrived,
Food & Cake
My lovely friend from Clever Cookie on Facebook received a message from me... please make a cake, bright, sprinkles, donuts, sweets, and music-related incorporating a keyboard, please. I knew she would make something amazing.
When the cake arrived on the morning of the party we were blown away. It was amazing, so much better than I could have ever imagined. Willow was lost for words, and that doesn't happen very often... She absolutely loved it.
We had a candy bar this year. I found a place down the road called the Liquidator. He had 12 packs of cool lollies (sour sprays, Spaghetti Heads, Surprise Eggs) for $2.50 a box. Kmart had lots of jars of lollies and we went to the shop and found all of Willow's favorites to fill up rest the table. The Candy Bar was a huge hit with the girls and looked amazing.
Other foods we served were Pizzas, Savouries, Cheerios, Cupcakes, Jellies, Donuts, Chips, Fruit Platter, and a Savoury Platter also. We had the Popcorn Machine going on another table and intentions to use the Chocolate Fountain but we couldn't get it going. I should have read the instructions.
Birthday Cake
Brooke, Elsie, Sadie, Amiria, Atawhai, Ja'Shayze, Nikita, Anaina, Kaitlyn, Shyla-Lilly, and Milly
who came and celebrated with her.
She was very spoilt and is very grateful for the lovely gifts xxx
